Learn more about the types of evidence-based models and types of mental health concerns I work with in my therapy sessions
The therapeutic models I use as a foundation with all my clients are person-centered therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). With my couples clients, I incorporate the Gottman method in addition to the previous models.
Person-centered therapy aims to have you show up as your most authentic self, flaws and all, in a safe and non-judgmental space. With this therapeutic model, I follow your lead and let you guide the conversations in order to best facilitate your own self-exploration. In sessions, I am focused on making sure you feel completely heard and understood. As you build an understanding towards yourself in therapy, I aim to have you practice self-compassion skills and gradually increase your sense of self worth.
I also like to use interventions from the evidence-based model, ACT. In this therapy model, we spend time identifying your avoidance patterns, your values, and your goals. Together, we work on improving your psychological flexibility, meaning we build tolerance and practice acceptance with your uncomfortable thoughts. At the same time, I help you commit to values-based actions in order to help you reach your goals. This therapy model has been proven to be effective with a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, trauma, stress management, grief, and difficult life transitions.
For my couples, I mainly use interventions from the evidence-based model, the Gottman method. With this model, we learn to manage conflict in a more healthy way, build a culture of appreciation within your relationship, and learn to create shared meaning together as a team.
